PLATINUM PERF™
Platinum Perf™ is a curated range of defined perforation styles, designed specifically for translating artwork and images into architectural form
Each style offers a different way to interpret an image, allowing the final result to be tailored to the design, scale, and environment.
By offering six individual styles to explore with, this range transcends traditional limitations, allowing for the portrayal of images or custom artwork with breathtaking detail, giving artists, architects and designers greater freedom to express their design concepts with clarity and precision.
From photographs and logos to abstract artwork and silhouettes, Platinum Perf™ transforms diverse forms of media into uniquely designed facades for both new and existing buildings.

Design Fundamentals When Using PLATINUM PERF™
Perforating custom images and artwork uses different sized holes to vary the amount of open area
in the panel which creates the contrast required to bring out the image.
There are several factors which can affect the clarity of the final product, such as:
-
Scale and viewing distance of the artwork
-
Size and open area of the perforations
-
Colour selection and contrast considerations
-
Lighting and background conditions
Understanding how these factors affect the final result will assist in selecting or creating the appropriate artwork

Considerations When Selecting Images or Artwork
Scale and Viewing Distance of the Artwork
Scale and viewing distance are fundamental to how perforated artwork is experienced.
Up close, the surface reads as a pattern of holes, but as you move further away, those individual perforations begin to resolve into a cohesive image.
The design is therefore not created for a single viewpoint, it is intended to be read at a distance where the artwork comes together.
Size and Open Area of the Perforations
Contrast in perforated artwork is primarily achieved through variation in hole size.
Larger holes generally represent darker areas, while smaller holes represent lighter areas.
Increasing the range between these sizes improves tonal control and image definition.
Open area influences transparency and light, but it is the difference in hole sizes that defines how the image is translated.
Colour Selection and Contrast Considerations
Colour selection plays a critical role in the readability of perforated artwork.
The perceived contrast is not only created by the perforation pattern, but by the relationship between the screen colour, the background, and the lighting conditions.
A well-chosen colour can enhance clarity and definition, while a poor combination can reduce the artwork’s visibility, even if the design itself is strong.
Lighting and Background Conditions
Lighting and background conditions play a major role in how perforated artwork is perceived.
Unlike a printed image, the final result is influenced by how light interacts with the surface and what sits behind it.
Front lighting can soften the image, while backlighting can increase contrast and definition.
At the same time, the background, whether it’s sky, landscape, or built form, can either enhance or reduce the clarity of the artwork.
